Hello everyone.
It is interesting to see how God works. when we do not see him. This is one of the reasons that Heaven will be exciting. You may think you have not done much for your Lord Jesus Christ. You may have what D. Marytn Lloyd Jones said in his book, Spiritual Depression, it's Causes and Cures. It is the title of a chapter, which he called, "Vain Regrets." (Martyn Lloyd Jones,David -Grand Rapids, Eerdmans Publishing.
When I was younger, my memory was quick and accurate. Having depression took some of that away. Most people have some memory problems, when they are over sixty. Our brain is wearing out. The body is dead because of sin, but the spirit is alive because of righteousness ( Romans 8:10, NASB).
I chose to attend the church of which he was the senior pastor because my sister said that he had preached in a Bible Conference at the Christian college, she was attending. and that he was a very good preacher.Alzheimer's is a terrible disease. You may forget everything, and may have no sense of existing as a person. It is one of the most feared illnesses among the elderly population. It happened to one of the most powerful and well rounded men, that I have ever met.
His mind was amazing. He had devotions in both Hebrew and Greek. He was a great preacher, when it came to the exposition of a Bible text, he had both light and heat. He could sail a boat, and was an excellent fisher man. He was later a missionary, who taught and advised many other missionaries. But then he got the dreaded disease. He suffered from it for many years. . on the
cross.that day. l know for certain that his mind and body are perfect today.
Why do I say such a thing? It is because when he was growing up in Iowa, he put his personal trust in Jesus Christ. who shed his blood for him. Before he got Alzheimers he was in the domain of darkness, at enmity with God. He became a citizen of heaven on that day.
But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies, so that they will be like his glorious body( Philippians 3:20,21, NASB),
You may have lost your reputation, your money, your memory, and your health, but God, the LORD,, your Heavenly Father will never forget you. The Lord Jesus Christ, shall never cease to pray for you. before the throne of God.
The Comforter the Holy Spirit will not leave you. Your mind may be dead but the Triune God does not sleep. He has put a hedge of protection around you (see Job chapters one and two.).
"But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who dwells in you
(Romans 8:8-11),
According to the rest of Roman 8, there isn't, and never will be anything that will separate you from the love of Christ. You cannot lose your salvation. You are in Christ, you are the apple of His eye.
Hebrews 6:11 say,s For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love which you have shown toward His name, in having ministered and in still ministering to the saints. And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence so as to realize the full assurance of hope until the end,
My pastor friend mentioned above went to heaven, and I am sure that the bells were ringing and the bands were playing. If your weak and lonely and incapacitated, Your Savior is pleading your situation before the Father.
"For in this way\ the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly supplied " ( 2 Peter 1:11- NASB).
When I was depressed it felt like my mind was stuck in a trap. My concentration was horrible, my ability to help and comfort others was for the most part gone. But God brought me through the trials.
I am on four pills that go directly to the problem of the brain. They are antidepressants and mood stabilizers. I am also taking Fish Oil, which contains DHA and EPA. Finally I take vitamins that have antioxidants in them. If I miss one of these doses, some of my symptoms will come back.
But now by His grace I have written a second book, The Pastoral Handbook of Mental Illness: A Guide for Training and Reference. This is published by Kregel Publications of Grand Rapid,s, MI.
My wife Robyn and I wrote our first book, Broken Minds Hope for Healing When You Feel Like You're Losing It. It was published by Kregel also, and it is still on the market.
I know many are readers of this blog are from Europe,Great Britain, Australia, Russia, the Ukraine China, South Africa, etc.
